OCTOBER 29th 2006

On the ride today was myself (Eddie Stobart - Matt Hoyles), Geoff Duteson, Dave Littlefair (Dodgy), Mick B, Rick Holmes, Jose Pinon Shaw and also Dave Brooks.

Wow what a brilliant day for the weather. We all set off from the Withy's heading towards Longridge. After leaving we were then joined by the other Withy's group so we had a large group of around 20 riders heading towards the Trough at road race pace!!! Believe me this pace soon stopped as we hit the steep side of the Trough. It never stops amazing me just how tough as climb it really is. After some of the faster riders on lets say full summer bikes!! (no mud guards or racks or spares etc) sprinted off the rest of us made our way slowly up the hill. After a brilliant descent we lost a few riders who were cutting the ride short and returning back to Scorton (They obviously found it tough to stay with the mighty wheelers who were doing all the work on the front!!)

Onto the slopes of Jubilee in the beautiful sun shine. Believe me there are never many days this good even in the middle of summer!! After a very fast descent we headed over Quermorre and to our lunch stop at one of JPS's favourite spots. The JC Country store near Forton and what a find it is. Just watch out for the chickens who have tendency to run off with gloves etc as some of us found out!!!

After a lovely lunch we made our way over pilling sands and onto the dreaded Skronky. But on a day like this it was a breeze as we headed quickly into St Micheal's. From here we headed back along the PETTS course and onto the A6 were is turned off home!!

Yet another brilliant ride and beautiful weather. It was so cool having so many of us out on the ride and I cant wait until next weekend!! Good work JPS on finding such a brilliant cafe and I hope everyone agrees with me when I say this is turning out to be a brilliant winter of training. It was also cool to think that 6 of us who were out will make up the party who will be flying out to Majorca very soon!!
