OCTOBER 15th 2006

Another great ride today with nice weather again, out today was Mick and Myself (Ric) with Stirfs joining us at Belmont.

Rode out over Houghton Tower catching Roy and the vets group on the climb then more climbing up to Abbey Village and over to the Black Dog at Belmont to meet Stirfs. A very hilly Stirfs special route followed out to Ramsbottom and then we tackled the Rake (glad I had not entered that beast!) and found a good cyclists cafe for a full english with some lads from Bolton Clarion.

Up the Rake again to watch the race, and there must have been hundreds of people on the hill. We met Dot and set up camp Wheelers to watch listening the comentator provide the build up, our man Butler came through at the end to great support all round although he appeared to be the only rider laughing as he went up the climb! Pete Danby also riding for Wheelers was going well but had to sit down in a church yard at the end feeling sick!

After watching the prizegiving we set off on the return leg to ride back with Pete Dandy and Dan, with a great tailwind it was a very fast run back.

Good day out.

Cheers Rick for the excellent report.
