NOVEMBER 5th 2006

On the ride today was myself (Eddie Stobart - Matt Hoyles), Geoff Duteson, Rick Holmes, Jose Pinon Shaw, Matt Stell, Gethin Butler, Mark Bolton and also Joe Doolan. Sorry if I have forgotten anyone its just there was so many!! We were also joined again by a handful of the Preston CC riders and also a new lad who is hopefully going to be joining the wheelers. Can I just say from everyone that it was brilliant to meet you and I hope that you enjoyed the ride today as much as me!!

Today was yet again an excellent day to be out riding the bike. It was dry but still with a chill in the air but with the amount of climbing that we had to do it was obvious that we would not be cold for long!! We left the Withy's with a total of 12 riders and headed around Longridge Fell and out towards Bolton By Bowland. The roads were still very damp and very greasy which led to some very cautious riding at times!! Once we had reached the Bolton By Bowland course we did the same climbs etc as the early season SPOCO race route. And what a toughie it is!!! It just never seems to stop!! At this point we slightly split into 2 groups as the power was applied to the front whilst the rest of us just steadily (18 mph ;-(  ) made out way up!! We finally arrived for dinner the the Garden Makers cafe.

This a really nice cafe and after a lot of friendly banter about me going to look around the garden centre we sat down to an excellent meal. After dinner we headed back along the lanes over Tosside to the base of Cows Ark. At this point I was praying for a flat ride home but as you guessed it its now uphill from here in!! And what an amazing climb it is. I really enjoyed it in the end.

From here it was a nice ride back along the Bashall Eves circuit and back to Longridge where me and Stelly peeled off to do some extra miles!!! ;-) (thats me kidding myself)

I ended up with just short of 65 quality miles on the clock and with an average of 16.5 over that terrain I was very pleased. It was brilliant today having so many people out with us and lets just hope we can continue getting these brilliant rides like this. This is what makes our club brilliant. Oh and Preston CC riders - you are more than welcome to come on our rides whenever you like as its brilliant to have you out with us. Just hope everyone enjoyed it as much as me!!

See you all next weekend ;-)
