A quick report on Sunday's ride as none has appeared as
yet. Got to the Withys on the last minute to find that PW, PCC & SIS had
decided to go out together so there was maybe 16 or more in the group. We
also got joined by two female guests who had travelled down from Cumbria
with the coach for one of them who followed in his white van! We went the
back way to Inskip then the lanes to Cockerham where a couple or so peeled
off. Some where on the way there was a piss stop in a village where I
found out that SIS don't do cafe stops after New Year! On to Lancaster
centre then up (& up, the group splintering a little) past the hospital to
pick up the road to Quernmore. I think this is where Matt & others peeled
off, the main group going up Jubilee; the big boys in a huddle with the
rest of us straggling out before regrouping at the top. This repeated up
the Trough (I nearly hung on) with regrouping at the Inn at Whitewell. I
should point out that one of the female guests climbed in to her mate's
coach's sag wagon part way up the Trough but the other kept up with the
big boys without difficulty if I'm not mistaken. After regrouping there
was immediately another stop for a puncture, the track pump from the sag
wagon being greatly appreciated by those concerned. I'd long since eaten
my single energy bar and was feeling a little peckish by this time to say
the least. The whole group then rode on through to Chipping and Longridge
where I got off at my stop. After a well earned lunch, I had a nap then
more lunch......74 miles I made it. I hope that I've got all the details
right. And we didn't even get wet really - so much for the Beeb's
forecasting.
Thanks to Frank for doing such a brilliant job on the
report.
