There were only 3 Wheelers out today unless I missed some
(apologies if so): JPS, Cranky and myself. Cranky suggested the following
illuminating report: rode north like t**ts for several hours then turned
around and rode back in similar fashion. To explain, PW, PCC & SIS et al
went out together again in a large group, heading north via Garstang,
Cockerham & Lancaster to Arnside. One or two had peeled off before
Lancaster due to other plans and commitments. The pace was brisk and
business like, with a lot of interesting company due to the large and
varied group. Things got tougher on the way back over the Kellets to Caton,
with an all too brief stop at a shop, and repeated on the way though
Quernmore to Scorton. This was due to a combination of the pace, gradient
and headwind. There were one or two regroupings along the way. The 3
Wheelers then stopped off at Cleveley Farm cafe outside Scorton for a
hearty lunch, having done 4.5 hours and over 70 miles by this time, before
pootling home. JPS left at Inglewhite crossroads, and Cranky lives shortly
after this which left me getting back to Longridge with a bit of
assistance by now with a cross-tail wind. Final score for me was 95 miles
with over 4,000ft of climbing but I think that I forgot to restart my HRM
for 10 minutes or so after one of the brief stops.
Thanks Frank for your help writing a brilliant report
from the ride.
