SATURDAY 17th MARCH 2005 - CIRCUIT OF INGLEBOROUGH HILLY 27 MILE TT

At this event last year we had gale force winds to contend with, but this year the weather was a lot kinder. I woke on the morning of the event to see near perfect conditions. A slight breeze and some early morning fog. At the event today was Myself (Matt Hoyles), Gethin Butler, Jose Pinon-Shaw and also Andy Bray. This course takes in 1 lap around Ingleborough with some beautiful scenery on route (not that I noticed any). The course itself is very rolling with some brilliant fast and technical descents and also some very nasty uphill sections. Everyone was spurred on today with the good weather and we all produced some very good rides on the day. The event was won by Gethin Butler in a time of 1.2.42 which is under a minute away from the course record that he set in 1998. I was the next fastest wheelers rider with a time of 1.9.10 which I  was very pleased about. Especially when it gave me 7th place on the day behind some of the local "Big Hitters". This was Andy Bray's first event of the season and he put in a cracking ride for a time of 1.9.58 to take 9th place on the day. Looks like he is actually doing more training than he is admitting to!!!! This year Jose managed to warm up on the turbo without being blown over and completed the course in 1.11.06 to take 14th place. I think that we all did really well on what is an amazing course. Roll on next year and lets just hope the weather man is kind again!!!
