Many people have heard about this super fast course in southern Wales which includes a long down hill section where it is possible to get to 50mph plus ;-) I travelled down last summer to ride the R25/3G after hearing what a great course it really was. I did 53 which I was well pleased with. I then came back and people started to ask about this course which this year  is going to be used for the national 25. Myself and Dave Littlefair decided that we would make the trip down to have a ride on this course before it is used for the national in the hope that we would get some better qualifying times to guarantee entry. We also travelled down with 2 other time trialists from the Preston area. The road trip began on the Saturday as we travelled down before driving the course. It is an amazing course which plummets down a valley for 3.5 miles and you don't have to go back up the hill. On the race day the weather sempt to be perfect. But we soon realised we where wrong. It was tail wind out which allowed me to ride to the turn in 54x11 wishing I had that extra gear. But is was a different story on the return leg of only 8 or so miles. It soon dropped down to 20 odd mph as the head wind section began. I was very glad to get to the finish to find out I had improved my PB time to 53.41 even though the conditions on the day were a lot worse. Lets just hope I can get a better day so I can see what I could do. Dave also did an excellent ride and recorded a time of 56.59 on a very windy day. It was good to see and chat to the various Welsh riders who came over to talk to us both to see what we thought of this amazing course. Role on the national now!!!
